Centennial Celebration - Ellsworth Public Library 100 Years
Our library is turning 100 years old and they have several special events planned to celebrate the milestone. Please visit their WEBSITE for full details.
- Get out your sleuth hat and lace up your walking shoes! We're bringing back a former Ellsworth tradition in celebration of the library centennial. First clue released on May 15, our centennial kick off, and each day until the medallion is found. Pick up clues at the circulation desk inside the library. Be the first to find the medallion and win $100 in Ellsworth Bucks donated by the Ellsworth Chamber of Commerce.
- Open House Kick-Off May 15th 5:30 - 7pm. Join us for refreshments provided by the high school Family and Consumer Education classes and music by the Ellsworth High School Band from 5:30 -
6:00 pm. At 6:00 pm hear the story of the people and organizations that helped bring a library to Ellsworth in 1924. - Puzzle Derby - Thursday, May 16th 5:30 - 7:30pm. Gather your jigsaw puzzle loving friends and register your team of 4 to compete in our first ever puzzle derby. How fast can your team complete a 500 piece puzzle? Come find out as you compete against other teams. Derby will be limited to eight four-person teams. Register at the library in person or by phone.
- Friday, May 17th 3:30pm - 5:30pm Old Fashioned Games. Drop in to relive some childhood memories or make new ones with family. Meet under the old drive-thru to play jacks, roll hoops, walk on "giant can feet", try sack jumping and many other classic games and activities.
- Saturday, May 18th Youth Book Arts 10am - 11:30am. Drop in to relive some childhood memories or make new ones with family. Meet under the old drive-thru to play jacks, roll hoops, walk on "giant can feet", try sack jumping and many other classic games and activities. Join instructor Patty Murphy for a morning of book creation and creativity for youth ages 8 and up. Registration is required Class size is limited to 15. Stop by or call the library to sign up today!
- Monday, May 20th 4pm - 5:30pm Family Stories Activities & Games. Join Ms. Caroline for a special Family Storytime. There will be stories, songs, crafts, activities and games for the whole
family. There will also be popcorn courtesy of WESTconsin Credit Union! - Tuesday, May 21st 6pm - 7:30pm Adult Bookmaking. Join instructor Kay Fritz as she walks us through a book creation project in celebration of books and libraries. Registration is required and class size is limited to 20. Stop by or call the library to sign up today!
- Wednesday, May 22nd 6pm - 7:30pm Centennial Celebration Finale! Join us for apple pie, music from Tim Brunner and a chance to meet up with friends and neighbors as we wish the Ellsworth Public Library a happy 100 years.
- Food Drive for the Pierce County Food Pantry taking place the entire week.All donations are welcome. The pantry is especially in need of these items: Flour, sugar, shampoo, dish soap, laundry soap, peanut butter, jelly, vegetable oil, oatmeal, macaroni and cheese, baked beans, dry soup mix, cereal and canned fruits, vegetables, and meats. Monetary donations are also always appreciated.
